Look To the Lord! - Micah 7:1-17
Questions for further reflection:
1) Read Micah 7:1. This prophet wasn’t the only one in Israel who felt discouraged and alone as one of God’s servants. Read 1 Kings 18-19. What similarities do you see between Elijah and Micah?
2) Read Micah 7:2-6. What happens when people block God out of their lives? What similarities do you see between Micah’s day and our own?
3) History says that Micah and Isaiah were serving God in Israel around the same time. Read Micah 7:8-10 and Isaiah 6. What can we learn about confession from these two passages?
4) Read Micah 7:11-17. What restoration is pictured here for Israel and for us? How will God humble the nations (7:16-17)? What do we learn about God from these verses?
5) Reflect on Micah 7:7. When God seems silent in our suffering, we can feel anxious and uncertain about life. Micah and the prophets knew that some promises come in the future. They were prepared to wait for God to answer. What does Psalm 27 teach us about how to respond when we are waiting on God to answer our prayers?

1) Do you think of sin as serious as you should? As seriously as God thinks about sin?
2) Are you now seeking or have you in the past sought to silence God’s word, either by opposing views others have been proving from scripture, or by ignoring scriptural advice or rebuke? If so, have you repented--confessed and apologized--for this to God and the person who you opposed/ignored?
3) Is your response to someone scripturally calling you out on your sin to consider it seriously and repent and believe, or do you tend to “shoot the messenger”?
4) Do you trust in the promises of God, or even more, the promiser who broke through into this world, not to minimize sin, but to die for it in light of all of its deadly seriousness?
