Jon Rees graduated with a Business Degree from Taylor University in 1995 (B.A) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School 2008 (M.A. Christian Studies). He volunteered in youth ministry at his home church in Crystal Lake, IL (8.5 years) and then served vocationally as Pastor of High School Ministries at the same church (8.5 years). He then served as Pastor of Community and Connection in Washington, D.C. (5 years) before coming to serve as Senior Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in August 2017.

Jon has been married to his beautiful wife Robin for 21 years. Together they have four children, David, Hannah, Micah, and Andrew.

What excites me: I'm excited to see the gospel take root in people's lives when they see the magnitude of what Jesus has done for them in His life, death, resurrection, ascension and soon coming return. The gospel changes everything and touches every part of who we are. When we grasp this, we are ready for whatever may come our way with a hope and a life that is secure in Christ.

Josh Doorenbos - Pastor of youth and music

Josh Doorenbos received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English: Writing and Rhetoric from Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa in 2011 and then his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Sioux Falls Seminary, Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 2015. Josh has been involved in some sort of ministry (paid or otherwise) most of his adult life. Vocationally he served as student pastor in Baltic, South Dakota for three years, then as a pastoral intern and youth director in Rock Rapids, Iowa for almost two years, before he was called to serve Faith Baptist Church as Pastor of Youth and Music in September 2018.

Josh is married to Bethany, his best friend, confidant, and reiner-in since June 2010, and together they are raising three high energy boys, Ted (August 2014), Xander (July 2016), and Chuck (May 2018).

What excites me: I’m a teacher at heart. I love seeing young people “get it.” The look on their face when they start to see the bigness of God, the beauty of what Christ has done, and their place in this grand story of God’s gospel spreading to the ends of the earth. I love getting swept up in the majesty of God, whether hearing a sermon, studying God’s word, praising him through song, or just sitting and talking with someone over coffee or a meal. What gets my heart beating is leading people into the presence of God, getting overwhelmed and humbled, and then realizing that this big, amazing God cares for us. I pray we never get too used to this amazing truth.

Lisa Ruffennach majored in vocal performance at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. She traveled and performed with various music ministry teams around the US and overseas prior to getting married to Don. She has been serving here at Faith in the music ministry for almost 20 years, currently as the Ministry Assistant.

What excites me: I love the connection I feel with God and his people in worship. Sometimes the love is overwhelming. I get a glimpse into God's heart for His children.  It humbles me that He would desire and choose to let me be a part of His work in this way.

Shelley Hays has attended Faith since the day it began! She has been the housekeeper at Faith for 20 plus years. She has also taught Sunday School, been a leader for Trendsetters, Awana, and youth group and has helped with Vacation Bible School.

What excites me: I absolutely love the kids and I really love it when they love me back. I also enjoy making the church shine and strive to let my light shine to those who enter the doors!  I feel so blessed to be a part of God's work! My heart's desire is for everyone to come to know the Lord in a personal way and be able to spend eternity in Heaven with Him.
